Singer Shimazu Aya will be appearing on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), broadcasting at 1pm on October 7th.
Her nephew is also pursuing a singing career and is currently training to be a singer. Shimazu goes to her nephew's live shows, but says she gets more nervous than her own performances. Her nephew will join as a chorus member and perform a special version of "Amazing Grace" in the studio.
Shimazu is known as the "singing monster" of the enka world, but her mother played enka for her during prenatal education, wanting her child to be able to sing enka. Thanks to this, she has loved Kitajima Saburo ever since she was old enough to understand. Looking back, the first time she greeted Kitajima in his dressing room, she was so moved that she cried, and she hardly remembers it now.
