It has been revealed that "Fate/Zero," a spin-off novel from the popular "Fate" series of games and anime, will be made into a musical. The musical, "Fate/Zero," will be performed in Tokyo and Osaka in January and February 2025. Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus, who wrote the novel, will supervise the musical's script, and Hideyuki Nishimori, who has worked on the stage productions of the "Messiah" series and the musical "Moriarty the Patriot" series, will be in charge of the script, direction, and lyrics.

"Fate/Zero" is a spin-off novel by Urobuchi that was published in 2006 as a prequel to the game "Fate/stay night," and Takeuchi Takashi, who also worked on the game, was in charge of illustrations. The story follows Masters such as Emiya Kiritsugu and his Servants as they fight for the Holy Grail, which is said to grant the wish of whoever obtains it. The TV anime also gained popularity, with the first season airing from October to December 2011 and the second season airing from April to June 2012.

Details of the musical, such as the staff, cast, and performance period, will be announced at a later date.

◇Comment from Urobuchi Gen

It is a very happy event to be able to deliver this work, which was written a long time ago when I was still driven by a different kind of ambition and passion, to the audience again, and it makes me feel as if I have become younger. "Fate/Zero" is a novel that marked a major turning point for me, and it is no exaggeration to say that Urobuchi Gen is what he is today because of this work. I am excited by the expectation that it will be reborn in a new form in this Reiwa era.

◇Comment from Nishimori Hideyuki

"Fate/Zero" is a legendary work. It is a masterpiece that will be passed down as a classic to future generations hundreds of years from now. Gen Urobuchi, who is famous as a genius, writes profound "literature". It depicts a vivid human ensemble drama that is comparable to Shakespeare and Chikamatsu Monzaemon. "Fate/Zero" as a musical. "What is justice?", "What is a king?", "The silence of God", "Salvation of the world" - the themes spun by Kiritsugu, Saber and the other characters living through the Holy Grail War become melodies and songs that, in an ensemble, will reflect the "state of the world" we live in. If we are to depict a work that is said to be legendary, it must live up to the role of a legendary stage. A cast filled with talent. A staff with great insight. Our goal is to create a creative musical that transcends the boundaries of genres. We are going to take on this production now, putting all our energy into it.
