56-year-old actor Gitan Ohtsuru will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), broadcasting at 1pm on October 2nd. His father was playwright and Akutagawa Prize-winning author Kara Juro, who passed away in May at the age of 84. As he had always been told that "stage performers cannot see their parents before they die," Ootsuru was unable to be with them at the end, as he passed away just as the opening night of Ootsuru's play had ended.

His father was kind, but he was not the typical "father" who would gather with his family. As a result, Ohtsuru looks back on his childhood as being a little sad. In order to understand the words his father often used to say, "I want to act like I want to eat three meals a day," he spends his days immersed in the stage, but says he has one regret about his father and shares his feelings about him.

His daughter Miyasu got married two years ago and had her first grandchild. She also talks about the joys of this.
