The event "Fan Appreciation Project! TV Anime 'My Dangerous Girlfriend' Retrospective Screening ~We've Come Together Again~" for the TV anime "My Dangerous Girlfriend," based on the popular manga by Norio Sakurai that is currently being serialized on Akita Shoten's manga site "Manga Cross," was held on September 29th at Shinjuku Wald 9 (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo), where Horie Shun, who plays Ichikawa Kyotaro, and Hitsujimiya Hina, who plays Yamada Anna, made an appearance. At the end of the event, it was announced as a surprise that a feature-length anime film will be produced, and Horie and Hitsujimiya looked at each other in surprise, saying, "I-What a surprise! Did you know?" and "What? What?" Hitsujimiya said, "We never expected the event to end with such an announcement. We really love and adore 'My Dangerous Girlfriend.' We're really happy to be able to return to the world of 'My Dangerous Girlfriend' again. The original work is of course continuing, but I'm looking forward to going to see Anna and the others in action!" as she spoke with tears in her eyes. Horie said, "It was a really unexpected and happy announcement. I'm just really happy to be able to meet them again. I'm going to put my energy into the dubbing (for the movie) again." The movie is a special edited version of the TV anime with new footage, and will also depict what happens to Ichikawa and Yamada afterwards. To commemorate the production of the movie, an illustration drawn by the original author Sakurai was also released.

At the event, Horie and Hitsujimiya revealed "behind the scenes stories that can only be told now." Horie commented on his feelings when the final episode came out, "From the moment I received the script, I was filled with emotions and honestly thought, 'I don't want it to end.' The cast was surrounded by really warm people, so it's even more meaningful, and I feel like I've grown along with Ichikawa Kyotaro. I was sad to see the series come to an end."

Hitsujimiya reflected, "I think that because Anna had faced so many conflicts (in season 2), and Ichikawa continued to face them and show her kindness, new feelings were born in Anna. I was very happy about that."

When the topic turned to episodes 24 and 25, Horie prefaced it with, "Not just these two episodes," and continued, "I was able to see Hitsujimiya grow as an actor. It was really amazing to see her synchronize with the role of Yamada Anna," and "What a scary girl." Hitsujimiya was humbled and said, "I'm very happy."

"Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu" began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten) in 2018, and is currently being serialized in Manga Cross. It is a youthful love comedy about Ichikawa Kyotaro, a gloomy boy in the middle of his chuunibyou syndrome, and Yamada Anna, a beautiful, outgoing girl who is at the top of the school's social hierarchy. It has been ranked in the men's edition of "This Manga is Amazing!" for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021, and won first place in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2020" in 2020, gaining in popularity. The total number of copies of the comics published is over 5.5 million.

The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2023, and the second season from January to March 2024 on TV Asahi's late-night anime slot "NUMAnimation."
