"Omusubi" is the NHK morning drama series starring Kanna Hashimoto, which will begin airing in the second half of fiscal year 2024 on September 30th. The heroine, born in 1989, is a powerful "Heisei youth graffiti" who always values her individuality with her "gal spirit" in her heart. There are 14 days left until the series starts airing. Yoneda Yui is the protagonist of this work. She was born on the first day of the Heisei era. She grew up in nature-rich Itoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture, and perhaps because of that, she eats anything with gusto. Yui's family, who are farmers, are also cheerful and carefree, but in fact, they have some complicated circumstances...

After graduating from high school, something happened that led her to move to Kobe and then to Osaka, where she began her career as a nutritionist. "Omusubi" was the nickname she was given when she was young, but she doesn't like it very much.

This is the first time that Hashimoto, who plays Yui, will be appearing in a morning drama.

◇A morning drama that starts in the Heisei era for the first time in four works - who will be the theme song and narrator?

The drama is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's "Honest Real Estate," among others. The theme song is "Illumination" by "B'z," and it is said to be a song that will further powerfully liven up the world of the story, in which the protagonist encounters gal culture.

The main story will be narrated by illustrator and actor Lily Franky, and the Saturday edition will be narrated by the same station's announcer Takase Kozo. This will be the first morning drama to be set mainly in the Heisei era, since "Maiagare!" in the second half of 2022.

The drama will be broadcast on NHK General TV from September 30th, Monday to Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and other channels.
