To the Shining You：Kamio Yu plays Taira Tamekata, a warrior who is on friendly terms with Fujiwara Takaie and achieves military success during the Toi invasion.

The new cast of the NHK Taiga drama "To You, the Shining One" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Yoshitaka Yuriko, has been announced on the drama's official X (formerly Twitter), revealing that Kamio Yu will play Taira Tamekata.

Taira Tamekata is a warrior who is friends with Fujiwara Takaie. He accompanies Takaie on his journey to Dazaifu, and achieves military success during the Toi invasion. Sojumaru devotes himself to training in martial arts under Tamekata.

Kamio said, "Taira Tamekata was a military commander who lived in the Heian period, a time when the world of aristocrats was changing to that of warriors. He appears as one of the symbols of the changing times. The samurai spirit was probably not yet well established at this time, but I think it was the greatest happiness for a warrior to serve a person he truly respected, who was filled with loyalty, faith and devotion, and was genuinely attracted to and infatuated with Fujiwara Takaie's personality. I would like to fully express Tamekata's loyalty and martial arts in the play."

"To You, the Light" is the 63rd taiga drama. Set in the aristocratic society of the mid-Heian period, the main character is Murasaki Shikibu (Mahiro), who later wrote "The Tale of Genji," said to be the oldest novel written by a woman in the world. The script was written by Oishi Shizuka, who is writing her second taiga drama since "Koumyo ga Tsuji" in 2006, and depicts the glittering world of Heian aristocrats and the life of a woman who lived, wrote and loved with all her heart.
