Scene photos and a synopsis have been released for the first episode (April Getsuku late night) of "Aku no Hana" (TV Tokyo, Thursdays at midnight), a live-action drama adaptation of a popular manga starring Fuku Fuku Suzuki and Ano-chan.
In the first episode, in a town shrouded in a sense of stagnation, middle school student Takao Kasuga (Suzuki), who finds solace in Baudelaire's poetry collection "The Flowers of Evil," returns to the classroom one afternoon to retrieve something he forgot and accidentally smells the gym clothes of his crush, classmate Nanako Saeki (Manami Igashira). The next day, tormented by guilt, he is approached by Sawa Nakamura (Ano), a troublemaker in his class who had witnessed the whole thing.
It was also announced that the narration for the next episode preview will be provided by Kotono Mitsuishi, a popular voice actress known for her roles as Usagi Tsukino in "Sailor Moon," Misato Katsuragi in " Neon Genesis Evangelion," and Boa Hancock in "One Piece."
The ending theme song will be "Cry Cry," sung by singer-songwriter majiko. This drama recorded the highest number of song submissions in TV Tokyo's history.
majiko commented, "I had the opportunity to write the song 'Cry Cry' for this project. Having read the original work, the image of 'a quiet street lined with shuttered shops and a single flower blooming there,' as described by the director, naturally came to mind. I am truly honored to have been involved in this wonderful project. Thank you."
It was also announced that Honoka Takahashi, the vocalist and guitarist of the girl band "Regal Lily," will be in charge of the music for the film for the first time. She commented, "There were many unknowns, but I could see the power of the original work, the energy of the staff and the performers, and the music that would be the background to it spreading out, and I was able to create the music by picking up each and every note."
The drama is based on the manga of the same name by Shuzo Oshimi, which was serialized in "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) from 2009 to 2014, and depicts the "reckless behavior" of adolescent boys and girls. It consists of 12 episodes.
