The third PV for the second season of the TV anime "MF Ghost," based on the "successor" to the popular manga "Initial D" by Shuichi Shigeno, has been released on YouTube. Katagiri Natsuko, who made a name for herself with her incredible driving technique in the first MFG race, Odawara Pikes Peak, despite it being her first time competing, will be taking on the second race, Lake Ashinoko GT, in an updated 86. The PV depicts the final race held in the rain, set to Eurobeat music, with the drivers known as the "God 15" fighting a heated battle on the worst road surfaces, pushing themselves to the limits.
It was also announced that Himika Akaneya, a member of the voice actress idol group "i☆Ris," will be performing the ending theme "Side U (Prod. AmPm)" under the name "Himika Akaneya." A portion of the song plays in the third PV.
Akaneya, who will be in charge of the ending theme following the first season, commented, "I'm grateful to be in charge of the ending theme for MF Ghost again. I sang this song with a feeling of embracing the complex emotions that people in love may have, such as, 'I want to stay like this a little longer,' 'Am I the only one who wants to see you so much?' 'I want to take a step forward from this relationship, but what should I do?' I'd be happy if I could gently accompany you at the end of the main story again."
In preparation for the broadcast of the second season, Uchida Yuuma, who plays Katagiri Natsuki, and Sakura Ayane, who plays Saionji Ren, also commented. "MF Ghost" began serialization in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha) in 2017. The story is set in Japan in the year 202X, when self-driving cars have become widespread. As the MFG car races on public roads become popular around the world, Kanata Rivington, who graduated from a racing school in the UK, returns to Japan to fulfill a certain goal.
The anime will be directed by Tomohito Naka, who has worked on the "New Theatrical Edition Initial D" series, and produced by Felix Film. Character design will be handled by Naoyuki Onda, who has worked on Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway's Flash and other works. The first season aired from October to December 2023. The second season will air on TOKYO MX and other stations from October 6th.
