It has been revealed that a press conference to announce the heroine of the NHK morning drama "Bakebake" for the second half of fiscal 2025 will be held on October 29th. The press conference will be broadcast live on "Retto News" (General) from 1:05 pm.
The model for the heroine of "Bakeke" is Setsu Koizumi, the daughter of a fallen samurai from Matsue and wife of Koizumi Yakumo (Lafcadio Hearn). The story is about a couple who love "ghost stories" together with their foreign husband, and who shed light on the "nameless people" who had been forgotten in Meiji Japan as Westernization progressed, and who speak for them as their spokesperson.
The script is written by Fujiki Mitsuhiko, who has worked on NHK's "Asagaya Sisters' Relaxed Life Together" and WOWOW's "Torikyu Series." The roles of the protagonist Matsuno Toki and her love interest, the foreign English teacher, will both be decided by audition.
The press conference is also scheduled to be streamed simultaneously and on-demand on NHK Plus.
