Singer and TV personality Rosanna will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), airing on July 6th at 1 PM. She debuted in 1968 as part of the duo "Hide and Rosanna." Their debut song, "Ai no Kiseki" (Miracle of Love), became a huge hit, making them instant celebrities.
Rosanna's reason for coming to Japan was to sing in her uncle's band, who was living there. However, Rosanna had a strong determination beyond singing. Her older sister, who is two years older than her, was someone she could never surpass no matter what she did. The initial offer to join her uncle's band went to her sister, but when her sister declined, Rosanna volunteered. She laughs, saying she wanted a fresh start, to gain confidence in herself, and to surpass her sister. She has completely blended into Japanese culture and loves Japanese food, but what surprised her the most when she first came to Japan was sukiyaki. This is because it contained chrysanthemum greens, which are offered at graves in Italy.
It has been 36 years since Hide, who later became her husband, passed away. Her husband was very popular with women even when he was alive, and this continued after his death, with meaningful bouquets of flowers being placed at his grave. She confesses that since she was a teenager, she would cry every night thinking of her beloved Hide.
