TV Tokyo has announced that it will broadcast coverage of the Sumida River Fireworks Festival, which will be held in Tokyo on July 25th, starting at 6:30 p.m. on the same day, under the title "Asahi Sumadori Special Exclusive Live Broadcast: Sumida River Fireworks Festival 2026". The main hosts will be actor Hideki Takahashi, who will be hosting for the 30th time this year, and announcer Minami Nakahara, who will be hosting for the third time.
Takahashi commented, "When I hear about fireworks displays, the first thing that comes to mind is sudden downpours! This year there are no typhoons or sudden downpours, so I want to watch them with everyone in peace." Nakahara said, "I feel that the warmth of the Sumida River Fireworks reaches everyone equally, whether it's a day that makes you want to hang your head or a day that is fun and happy. Even in our hectic daily lives, I want to look up at the same night sky together on this day and enjoy that moment. Thank you again this year!"
On the day of the fireworks display, in addition to the program broadcast, a special live stream will be held on TVer and the official TV Tokyo YouTube channel. First Summer Uika will serve as the MC.
