Actress Nanao appeared with comedian Hikorohee at a talk session at the "10th Anniversary of the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace" BeliEVE Conference held in Tokyo on August 28. Nanao recently revealed about her own career, "Emma Miyazawa, who I co-starred with (in a movie), is a former stage actress, but I have no stage experience, so I wanted to try it to broaden my career, and I asked her what it would be like."
Hikorohee said, "Rather than asking about my career, I consult with senior comedians about things like, 'How did yesterday's recording go?' or 'How should I have responded at that time?'" He added, "I'm often asked for advice by junior comedians, who say things like, 'I didn't do well in the awards competition, what should I do?' or 'I got fired from my part-time job, please lend me some money.'"
When asked about their mindset when receiving advice, the two reliable "big sister figures" Nanao replied, "Everyone has different values and ways of feeling, so while I try to be considerate of the other person's feelings, I also respond by saying things like, 'This is what I did,' or 'This is what I think.'"
Hikorohee commented, "I try to be careful not to say things that I wouldn't like to be told myself, and to avoid saying things that might control the person I'm consulting with. I also make sure they drink a lot of alcohol to make them feel good (laughs)."
SS Pharmaceuticals' antipyretic and analgesic brand, "EVE," held the event to mark the 10th anniversary of the enactment of the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace. Nanao serves as the brand's ambassador. Hikorohee also serves as a mentor for the online mentoring service, "BeliEVE Mentoring Door," which was launched on the same day.
