The official trailer for the film "Treasure Island" (directed by Otomo Keishi, scheduled for release on September 19th), starring actor Satoshi Tsumabuki, was released on July 23rd.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Junjo Shindo, which won the 160th Naoki Prize, the 9th Yamada Futaro Prize, and the 5th Okinawa Bookstore Award. Set in Okinawa, which was under American rule after the war, the film depicts the turbulent 20 years of the young people known as "Senka Agiyar." In addition to Tsukamoto, the film also features a star-studded cast including Suzu Hirose, Masataka Kubota, and Eita Nagayama.
The newly released trailer shows the brave figure of young men called "Senka Agiya" who distribute supplies stolen from a US military base to local residents in 1952, when Okinawa was under the control of the US. Their leader On (Nagayama), who dreams of one day achieving "great results," was their "pride." Twenty years have passed since the disappearance of the Koza hero On. The three childhood friends who once pursued freedom with On - protagonist Gusuku (Tsumabuki) becomes a detective, Yamako (Hirose) becomes a teacher, and Rei (Kubota) becomes a yakuza - each embarks on their own path. At the end of the video, a powerful scene of the Koza riots is shown, with Gusuku shouting, "Can we get away with this without a fight? We can't get away with this without a fight!!"
