A clip from the film "Kaze no Majimu" (directed by Haga Kaoru), starring actress Sairi Ito, was released on September 12th. The clip, titled "Majimu and Grandma Go to the Bar," includes the scene where the protagonist, Majimu, played by Ito, has a fateful encounter with rum.
In the video, Majimu is drinking with his grandmother Kamal (Atsuko Takahata) at the bar counter. The two converse in Okinawan. When Majimu requests another drink, the bartender Goro (Sometani Shota) asks, "How about some rum then?" and shows him a bottle of rum. The two are surprised by how delicious it is after taking a sip of the rum that Goro offers them, and when Goro explains, "It's made from sugarcane," they get excited and discuss how it would be great if someone made rum in Okinawa, where sugarcane is everywhere... and so it goes.
Ito stars in the film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Harada Maha, which has sold over 140,000 copies. Based on the true story of Kinjo Yuko, who wanted to create a special rum from the sugarcane grown in the winds of Minamidaito Island, and who used an internal venture competition to launch a business and rise from a contract employee to president, the film follows the story of the protagonist, Inami Majimu, a contract employee who has led an ordinary life, as she meets people, gets those around her involved, and, with the support of her family, realizes her dream. It is a tale of the protagonist's growth and the sincerity of the people around her. The theme song is "Anoyo de ne" by Moriyama. The film will be released in Okinawa on September 5th, followed by a nationwide release on the 12th.
