It has been announced that the rock band FLOW will be performing the opening theme (OP) "＋ENCOUNT" for the TV anime "Rakudai Kenja no Gakuen Musou ~Nidome no Tensei, S-Rank Cheat Magician Boukenroku~," which is based on a popular manga series that boasts over 1.8 million copies sold in total.
FLOW commented, "We have written the song '+ENCOUNT' for the fantasy series 'The Failed Sage's Academy Unrivaled ~Second Reincarnation, S-Rank Cheat Magician's Adventure Log~'. We expressed through music the feeling of reaching out to become the person you want to be, even when you are forced to confront the gap between yourself and those around you and feel like you are about to feel despair and regret. Please enjoy the song along with the story of the protagonist Eftal fulfilling his dream of 400 years, and the exhilarating revenge adventure of the great sage."
The main PV has been released on YouTube, and the opening theme "＋ENCOUNT" by "FLOW" and the ending theme (ED) "Shokei" sung by "TrySail," a unit consisting of voice actresses Momo Asakura, Sora Amamiya, and Shiina Natsukawa, have been unveiled.
A key visual hinting at a new battle for the main characters, Eftal and his companions, has also been released. The anime will begin airing on July 1st on TOKYO MX, ABC TV, BS Fuji, and WOWOW.
"The Failed Sage's Academy Unrivaled Power" tells the story of Eftal, a great sage who was reincarnated from modern times and dedicated his life to the study of magic. He realizes the limits of his talent and dies in despair, but is reincarnated 400 years later. Armed with the knowledge and magic of his previous life, Eftal is reincarnated for the second time, in a world where magical civilization has declined. There, he teams up with a slave girl named Anastasia and Merlin, the headmaster of a prestigious academy and his former disciple, to dominate the magic academy.
The anime will be directed by Hisashi Ishii and produced by EMT Squared. Shuichiro Umeda Umeda will voice the current Eftal after his second reincarnation, Reo Koyama will voice Anastasia, who was rescued by Eftal from unjust treatment as a slave and joins him on his journey, and Haruka Shiraishi will voice Merlin, his former disciple.
