The 10th episode of the drama series "Galaxy Vote" (Kansai TV/Fuji TV, Mondays at 10pm), starring actress Haru Kuroki, aired on June 22nd. A theory has emerged that the sender of the "letter of accusation" received by Minseito party secretary-general Takaomi (Yajuro Bando) may be Shizukuishi (Makiya Yamaguchi), the secretary-general's policy secretary.
◇The following contains spoilers.
The letter of accusation sent to Takaomi contained a newspaper clipping reporting the fatal fall of Dean Niizaneri of Naranoki Medical University, along with a note that read, "You killed him." Igarashi (Kenji Iwatani), who knew a crucial fact related to the letter, told Mari (Kuroki) that there was "someone I wanted to confirm the facts with" before telling her everything.
Igarashi then showed Mari a postcard. It had a picture of the Galaxy Express 999 and the words, "To live rightly and strongly means to be aware of the Milky Way within oneself and to respond to it." The sender was Shizukuishi.
Meanwhile, Shizukuishi asked his office staff to prepare a notice from the Secretary-General. The notice stated that, "Effective June 2, 2026, if any member of the party, including national and local assembly members, or their relatives, supports a candidate other than the one recommended by the party in the Tokyo gubernatorial election, it will be considered a clear act of anti-party conduct and subject to disciplinary action."
The staff refused to create the document, arguing that including relatives would be going too far and infringe upon their freedom of thought.
Despite this, when Shizukuishi tried to create the document herself, Nodamura (played by Okui Shuji) tried to reason with her, saying, "Shizu, that's not right. You think that's strange, don't you?" But in the end, the document was mailed anyway.
Igarashi summoned Shizukuishi to the fishing pond. "I wanted to check the answer to this," Igarashi said, casually showing her an envelope, and the drama ended there.
On social media, people were excited, saying things like, "Could it be Shizukuishi who wrote the letter?", "Could that letter be Shizukuishi's plea for help, asking someone to stop her from becoming secretary-general?", "Shizukuishi seems to be carrying some kind of burden," "No matter how many times I see Shizukuishi's pained but determined eyes as she tries to become all alone, it makes me cry," and "Shizukuishi, who was so obsessed with Miyazawa Kenji's words that she sent them to everyone, has now become someone who ruthlessly completes her work even though she thinks it's wrong."
