It has been announced that "Möbius Dust," an original TV anime produced by Oshi no Ko, the Doga Kobo known for anime such as "NEW GAME!" and "Oshi no Ko," will begin airing on TOKYO MX, BS Fuji, MBS, and other channels from July Getsuku. The story, which had been shrouded in mystery until now, will be revealed. Ten years after a meteorite fell, children (Rams Carriers) who have gained special abilities called Rams due to the influence of mysterious particles (Möbius Dust) engage in supernatural battles.
A key visual featuring the main characters gathered together against the backdrop of the town of "Shinkatsushika," the setting of the story, has been released. The main promotional video has also been released, depicting battle scenes involving over 30 characters.
Additional cast members have also been announced, including Taito Ban as Shosei, the older brother figure to high school student Araki; So Aoi Ichikawa as Kai, the cool and intellectual type; Sohei Horigane as Haruto, the cheerful mood maker; Satsumi Matsuda as Cruz, a boy who looks like a little girl and is inexplicably obsessed with Araki; Shiori Mikami as Spica, Cruz's twin sister; and Maki Kawase as Dr. Yuda, a leading expert on Rams.
It was also announced that Hatsume Kojima will be in charge of character design, and Daisuke Endo's solo project "DE DE MOUSE" will be in charge of the music. Singer-songwriter Ai Tomioka will be in charge of the ending theme, "Dilemma."
A special live stream featuring Yuto Takenaka (who plays Araki), Nene Hieda(who plays Stella), Matsuda (who plays Cruz), and Kawase (who plays Dr. Yuda) will be broadcast on June 28th at 7:30 PM.
Sakamoto, who plays the role of Shosei, commented, "In this work, which depicts a realistic story of boys and girls, Shosei is like an older brother to the team and acts as a leader. He is very reliable, listening to Araki's problems, cooking meals for everyone, and calmly giving instructions to keep the team together, but he too will grow a lot as a boy just like everyone else in the story. Please look forward to Shosei's exploits and the colorful and spectacular story of these characters!"
Ichikawa, who plays Kai, said, "I remember being drawn to the concept of children who can't live without Dust when I auditioned. Kai is a quiet kid among the Police Hopper, but when it comes to fighting he's surprisingly aggressive, and he calls the Tail Marimo his master... I feel like he's kind of mysterious. There are many teams that will appear, so I would be happy if you would watch over their fates."
Horikane, who plays Haruto, said, "Haruto is a very energetic boy! He's so energetic and cheerful that the atmosphere of the work might change a little if he wasn't there! (laughs) This is the first time I've played such an over-the-top energetic character, so I'm enjoying participating in the voice recording sessions every time! The story is full of the youth and struggles of children, as they compete with each other, play games, have fun, and sometimes fight and worry. Please look forward to 'Möbius Dust'!"
Matsuda, who plays Cruz, said, "During the audition, they asked for a 'suspicious sense of distance,' and during the first recording, they asked for an even more 'selfish and unrestrained cuteness,' and I heard the sound of a new door opening within me. The 'immaturity' of the characters in 'Möbius Dust' is also very appealing. I think you'll definitely find a character you like in this work, so while you're looking for your favorite, please keep your eyes on Cruz. Look forward to the broadcast!"
Mikami, who plays Spica, commented, "It's hard to believe it's been seven years since I first encountered 'Möbius Dust' on the 'Project ANIMA' radio show. I'm truly moved to think that it has come to this point, thanks to the efforts and passion of so many people, and has now been made into an anime! I'm so please look forward to being given the opportunity to voice Spica. In a story where various characters intersect, I wonder what kind of role she will play. Please look forward to the broadcast!"
Kawase, who plays Dr. Yuda, said, "First of all, what exactly is 'Möbius Dust'? Dr. Yuda is a mysterious character who is a little high-spirited, but he conducts research for the future of children in a world full of mysteries. Please look forward to the various experiments, which are actually games, that Dr. Yuda proposes!"
Tomioka, who is in charge of the ending theme, said, "It's a struggle that everyone has felt at some point in their lives. Your own identity in relationships, and your place in relation to others. I empathized with the deeply human emotions of the characters in 'Möbius Dust,' and the word 'dilemma' immediately came to mind. Not everything can be clearly defined as black or white. Rather, it is the things that are important that are difficult to find the right answer for, and I think that is why people continue to worry. Life is a series of dilemmas. This song was written with those thoughts in mind."
Kojima, who is in charge of character design, commented, "I am drawing every day so that I can deliver the thoughts of the original creator, Shinagawa (Hajime), the director, and everyone else in the best possible form as animation. Thank you for your support."
DE DE MOUSE sent the following message: "It's a coming-of-age story about boys who carry deep wounds in their hearts and bodies, and their everyday lives in a precarious setting. I absolutely love the idea that the world might turn out like this tomorrow, and I'm truly happy that I was able to color the music for 'Möbius Dust' with DE DE MOUSE's melodies! After carefully discussing the direction of the music with the director, I created 55 songs in one month with the energy of initial impulse. In each song, I tried to translate the feelings of the characters into the melody in my own way. I hope you can feel the passion in the music!"
"Möbius Dust" is an original story depicting the everyday lives of high school students living in a downtown area, based on the original concept of the same name by Shinagawa Hajime, which won the grand prize in the "Kids Game Anime" category of the third "Project ANIMA" open call project to create original anime works.
