The variety show "Kaiun! Nandemo Kanteidan" (TV Tokyo, Tuesdays at 8:54 PM), hosted by talent Koji Imada, freelance announcer Akira Fukuzawa, and former Sakurazaka46 member Yuka Sugai, will feature a "folding screen by painter Banka Maruyama" as its treasure on June 2nd.
According to the client, the treasure was discovered when a friend told them, "There's an old house that's going to be demolished, but I don't need anything inside, so if there's anything you want, you can take it." The client went to see the house and found the treasure, which was given to them for free. At the time, they didn't even know the artist's name, but after researching it later, they were surprised to find out that the artist was famous! They don't have a Japanese-style room in their house and nowhere to put it, so if it's worth something, they'd like to sell it and go on a trip abroad.
The preview shows Imada being surprised by the appraisal result, exclaiming, "You've got to be kidding me!", and describing the folding screen as "a screen my friend found when he bought an old house" and "he didn't need it, so I took it, but could it possibly be a work by a famous painter!?".
