Actor Ayumu Nakajima , who gained attention for his excellent portrayal of Nagamasa Asai in the NHK Taiga drama " BROTHERS IN ARMS （Toyotomi Brothers!） ", will appear in the TBS drama series "Until My T-Shirt Drys," starring Yu Aoi, which will begin airing in July. He will play Itsuki, a "slightly unfortunate man" who works for a confectionery manufacturer.
The drama is an entirely original story by screenwriter Miku Ubukata, known for hit dramas such as "Until My T-Shirt Dry" and "Silent" (Fuji TV), and this is her first time writing for a TBS drama. It depicts the "love" and "secrets" of two couples who are involved in an accident. This marks Aoi's first leading role in a terrestrial television drama series in 18 years, since "Osen" (Nippon Television).
Nakajima plays Itsuki, a 37-year-old man who works for a confectionery company. He has a simple, kind, and earnest personality, but he's a bit oblivious to social cues and often disrupts the atmosphere with his careless remarks. However, he doesn't mean any harm, and his awkwardness makes him a somewhat endearing character. But it seems he's actually harboring a secret... The nature of his relationship with the protagonist, Sakiko, played by Aoi, will not be revealed until the first episode airs.
Nakajima revealed his feelings, saying, "When I received the offer, I was not only happy, but also surprised. I think this will be the biggest job I've ever had."
Nakajima said, "It is a great honor to be able to stand on such a big stage, co-starring with Yu Aoi, whom I have admired for a long time, and working on an original script written by Mr. Ubukata, whom I respect." He continued, "This work is like a 'thought experiment' by Mr. Ubukata, depicting unprecedented human relationships that are more diverse and freer than ever before.
