"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle bizarre requests and worries submitted by viewers. On May 22nd, Detective Seiya investigated whether a professional baseball player could be struck out if he had a strong urge to urinate. Talent Sekine Tsutomu served as Special Director for the second time in four months, with Matsui Kemuri as Assistant Director and Masuda Saori as Secretary appearing on the show.
The request came from a 26-year-old man from Osaka Prefecture. "I've been playing baseball since elementary school, and I've always been a pitcher. I admire the blazing fastball of Hanshin Tigers manager Kyuji Fujikawa, and I still pitch in amateur baseball games. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to become a professional baseball player, but there's one goal I just can't give up on. That is, 'I want to strike out a professional baseball player, just once!'"
However, I'm well aware that I can't win in a normal match. So I came up with the idea that "even the best players can't overcome the urge to pee, right?" In other words, if a professional batter is in the extreme state of needing to pee, even an amateur like me might have a chance of striking them out. I know it's a reckless challenge, but I'm serious! I want this to be a turning point in my baseball career. I'm asking for your support in this dream challenge.
The client, who works in the medical field, had prepared a device that uses ultrasound to measure the remaining capacity of his bladder. His limit was a score of "10". He boasts of his fastball and two-seam fastball. So the program rented out a baseball field and had amateur baseball fielders and an umpire on standby. The client's fastball was quite powerful. His "urine-seam" (not a two-seam fastball) was also in top form. Then two former professional baseball players appeared. They drank lots and lots of fluids, including iced coffee, until they all felt the urge to urinate at its maximum! With his bizarre pigeon-toed batting form and the "superman" groaning in agony while waiting his turn... was the client able to strike them out?!
