Additional cast members have been announced for the TV anime "Oni no Hanayome" (The Demon Bride), based on Kureha's popular light novel. It has been revealed that Taito Ban, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Aya Endo will be joining the cast. Saka will play Takamichi Araki, secretary to Reiya Kiryuin, the next head of the demon clan; Shimazaki will play Sakura Oniyama, the next head of the Oniyama family; and Endo will play Sakurako Oniyama, Reiya's fiancée. A second promotional video revealing the cast, featuring Takamichi, Sakura, and Sakurako, has also been released.
Saka commented, "I will be playing the role of Takamichi Araki, a demon who serves Reiya, the next head of the demon clan. Takamichi performs his duties perfectly as Reiya's confidant and also gently supports Yuzu, the bride, but actually...!! Please look forward to this beautiful and delicate story of a demon and bride!"
Shimazaki said, "Sakuragawa comes from a distinguished background, so every word he says has both a surface and a hidden meaning, which made it fun to imagine and expand on the character from the moment I read the original work and the script. He doesn't show it much, but he's a person who has gone through quite a lot of hardship, so I would be happy if you would watch the work and think about his inner world."
Endo commented, "She has a very striking appearance, so she might seem unapproachable, but she is a cute and very honest woman. I think her charm also lies in the fact that she has passionate and secretive thoughts and wishes that she will never compromise on. She has a strong face, but her demeanor is like a flower, just like Oniyama Sakurako! Please give her your support."
The series is a "Japanese-style supernatural Cinderella story" set in a world where humans and supernatural beings coexist. It follows Shinonome Yuzu, an ordinary high school student leading an unfortunate life, who meets Kiryuin Reiya, the top demon among the supernatural beings, and is chosen to become his bride. The light novel and manga series have garnered popularity, with cumulative sales exceeding 6.5 million copies. The live-action film adaptation, starring Nagase Ren and Yoshikawa Ai, was released in March and also became a hot topic.
The anime will be directed by Kazuhito Omiya and produced by Colored Pencil Animation Japan. Saori Hayami voice Yuzu Shinonome, an ordinary girl who lives a life unloved by her family, and Yuichiro Umehara will voice Reiya Kiryuin, the next head of the demon clan, which stands at the pinnacle of supernatural beings. It will air in July.
