TV Tokyo's popular information variety show "Shutsugen! Ad Machikku Tengoku" (Saturdays at 9 PM) will feature towns along the Seibu Railway for five consecutive weeks starting May 16th. The first episode will focus on the area around Tokorozawa Station in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, which is also the home stadium of the professional baseball team, the Saitama Seibu Lions.
The area around the station is practically Tokyo! It's just like Harajuku! The area has been transformed by the redevelopment of the area in front of the station, attracting young people. It's a transportation hub with local specialties and alleys that evoke the atmosphere of the Showa era.
The program introduces delicious local specialties such as a popular stand-up soba noodle shop that has been loved on train platforms for many years, a specialty shop for quail egg dishes located in a quiet residential area, croquettes from a butcher shop with an eat-in area, grilled dumplings that are a favorite of Toshiaki Kasuga of the comedy duo "Audrey," and Musashino udon noodles with peperoncino sauce.
A huge oasis for drinkers in a Harajuku-esque shopping street, but the direction is all wrong!? We explore the mystery of the S-curve on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line and introduce the tough-looking shop owners who support the alleyways and young people opening shops. We also hear some behind-the-scenes stories from the playing days at a hair salon that was frequented by former professional baseball player Kazuo Matsui, who played for the Seibu Lions and other teams.
The guests are Matsui, actress Yua Shinkawa, and Reo Tsuchiya, a member of the a cappella group "RAG FAIR" and also a TV personality. Kasuga will be appearing as a guest via video. The preview video shows scenes of Kasuga saying, "There are pieces of me scattered all over the place."
