It has been announced that Junichi Suwabe, Jun Kasama Kasama, Hiroki Yasumoto, and Yui Ishikawa will be appearing as voice actors in the TV anime "Atelier of Witch Hat," based on the manga by Kamome Shirahama. They will be the cast of the Magic Police Knights (commonly known as the Magic Police Corps), who will appear from episode 7, airing on May 18th. Suwabe will play the vice-captain Easheath, Kasama will play Utwin, a wizard belonging to the Magic Police Corps, Yasumoto will play Galga, and Ishikawa will play Luluci. The character visual for Easheath has also been released.
The Magic Police is an organization of wizards who protect magic, following the rules established on the day of their alliance, erasing the memories of those who dabble in forbidden magic or those who are "unaware" of the secrets of magic. Suwabe, who plays Eastheath, a character who is strict about the rules of the magical world and does not allow exceptions, commented, "It is a beautiful work with an original worldview and setting. I am very happy to be involved. If I had to describe Eastheath, the character I am playing, in one word, it would be 'strict.' He is a very troublesome character for the main characters. I will do my best to make him a good piece of the story, so please continue to watch."
Rena Motomura, who plays the main character Coco, said of Junichi Suwabe, who plays Eastheath, "From Coco's perspective, he was so intimidating that just looking at him made my body stiffen. However, I think that within that strictness there is also a strong sense of responsibility to protect magic. I felt that kind of intensity from Mr. Suwabe's voice, and it was strongly conveyed by his presence on set."
"Atelier of Witch Hat" tells the story of Coco, a girl who longs to be a wizard, as she steps into the mysterious world of magic. The series began serialization in "Monthly Morning Two" (Kodansha) in 2016, and has sold over 7.5 million copies. It has been selected for manga awards in France, Spain, South Korea, and other countries, and in 2020 won the Eisner Award for Best Asian Work, attracting attention from around the world.
The TV anime is currently airing on TOKYO MX and other channels.
