Burns orders everyone to remember their assignments. Rin and the other first-year students reflect on how they haven't been able to put into practice what they've studied.
Meanwhile, Tae's father (Mutsuo Yoshioka) comes to the school and tells the principal, Kajiwara (Shima Ise), "My daughter will be leaving this school." Six months later, the seven first-year trainees had grown so much that Burns told them, "There's nothing more I can teach you here." Burns sent them a message saying, "Have a fruitful internship, interacting with patients in the hospital and working alongside doctors," and presented them with internship uniforms.
When Kiyo (Akiko Kikuchi) murmured, "He's a surprisingly nice guy," Burns responded, "Surprisingly?" Then Naomi panicked and asked, "Wait a minute. Why does Sensei understand Japanese?" Burns explained, "I started studying it after I decided to come to Japan. I have to raise you all." When Rin asked, "Could you speak Japanese from the beginning?" Burns replied, "Yes," and added, "I'm a bit of a jerk, so I might have shown you an illusion."
