Actress Kasumi Arimura will appear on "Sunday's First-Time Learning" (MBS/TBS, Sundays at 10 PM) airing on May 3rd. Arimura says her acting career has been a series of trials and tribulations, including a story of her tenacious debut when she failed an audition for an agency in junior high school but called them herself a year later and secured an acceptance. Immediately afterward, her manager at the time told her, "If things continue like this, you should quit acting," and she recalls hitting rock bottom, saying, "I was so frustrated."
Just before turning 20, Arimura was tasked with living with female photographer Maki Oe for a month "to break out of her shell." Oe candidly testifies via live broadcast about Arimura's true character, including how she spent her time by the light of the kitchen and how she "lived a very calm, grounded life," carefully selecting inexpensive vegetables at the supermarket.
Towards the end of their cohabitation, Arimura was asked if she "wasn't prepared enough," and after a night of intense crying, we look back at how her mindset changed, along with precious, never-before-seen photographs.
The video also features Yuki Yamada, who has co-starred with her four times, and Mitsuki Takahata, her close friend of 12 years.
