It has been announced that Jesse from the popular group SixTONES will be appearing as a voice actor in the new theatrical anime film "Sgt. Frog," based on the popular manga by Mine Yoshizaki, titled "Sgt. Sgt. Frog Revival and Immediately Facing the Crisis of Earth's Destruction!". Jesse will be playing Arle and Deruru, two original Keronian brothers, in his first attempt at playing two roles. It was also announced that singer ano, also known as "Ano-chan," will be performing the theme song, "Kashippanashi Destiny." Ano is the publicity ambassador for the anime's 20th anniversary project and will also be performing the opening theme, "Mata Kaette Kita Kero! to March," together with Soshina from the comedy duo Shimofuri Myojo.
Jesse commented, "I had a lot of fun playing the two roles of Arle and Deruru! At first I was very anxious and thought I was going to lose it, but after performing it many times I got the hang of it and was even able to add ad-libs. I was so happy that Director Fukuda (Yuichi) laughed! Both Arle and Deruru are fantastic characters, so I hope everyone enjoys it without realizing from beginning to end, 'Wait, was that Jesse?' And I was really excited because this story takes place in the largest-scale threat in the series! I'm so happy to be a part of this ' Sgt. Frog' with its amazing cast and Director Fukuda's unique touch! Please enjoy the various developments and different characters! My favorites are Arle and Deruru! Everyone! I'll be waiting for you at the theater!"
Ano said, "Following 'Keroro and the March Who Came Back Again,' I was also given the opportunity to sing the theme song. I put into the song my joy that Keroro and his friends have returned in the Reiwa era, and the endearing everyday lives of Keroro and his friends that remain unchanged even as times change. The director and the Keroro team saw my live performance and requested that I include not only my public image, but also aspects that are different and more intense, so I tried my best to fulfill those requests! I hope you enjoy the song along with the movie."
The official trailer featuring Arle and Deruru has been released on YouTube, and a portion of the theme song, "Kashipanashi Destiny," has been unveiled. The video shows Sgt. Frog confronting the new invaders, upholding their pride as invaders.
The main visual, depicting the Keroro Platoon and their friends facing their strongest enemy against the backdrop of an Earth on the brink of destruction, has also been released. The mysterious inventor Dr. Aldel, as well as Arle and Deruru, are also depicted.
The new animated film will be directed and written by Fukuda, known for his work on the drama series "Yusha Yoshihiko" and the film series "Gintama." Fumitoshi Oizaki, who was in charge of character design for the TV series, will direct the film, and Satoshi Koike, who also worked on the TV series, will be in charge of character design. BN Pictures will produce the animation. This will be the first animated film in the "Sgt. Frog" series to be released in theaters in approximately 16 years, since "Sgt. Frog the Movie: The Birth of the Ultimate Sgt. Frog - The Miracle Time-Space Island!!" released in 2010. It will be released on June 26th.
"Sgt. Frog. Frog" is a gag manga depicting the daily life of Keroro, an alien based on a frog who aims to invade Earth, as he spends time at the home of a young Earth boy named Fuyuki. The one-shot "Sgt. Frog" was published in "Bessatsu Newtype" (KADOKAWA) in 1998, and the serialization began in "Monthly Shonen Ace" (also KADOKAWA) in 1999. The TV anime aired from April 2004 to March 2011 for about seven years, and the series has been adapted into a wide range of media, including five theatrical anime films.
