It has been announced that the Blu-ray Disc (BD) and DVD of the new theatrical film " Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Yaiba the Movie: Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1 - Akaza's Return," based on the popular manga by Koyoharu Gotouge , will be released on July 29th. The storage box and digipak, featuring newly drawn illustrations by character designer and chief animation director Akira Matsushima, have been revealed. The storage box depicts Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka using Water Breathing. The digipak depicts battles between Akaza and Tanjiro and Shinobu Kocho, and Kaigaku and Zenitsu Agatsuma. A commercial for the BD and DVD has also been released on YouTube.
The limited edition includes a storage box illustrated by Matsushima, a special slipcase, an illustrated digipak, a bonus CD (film score collection: STEREO MIX), a bonus disc containing recordings of the Demon Slayer performance by voice actors Natsuki Hanae, Hiro Shimono, Takahiro Sakurai, and Saori Hayami, a digest of domestic stage greetings, Global Highlights 2025, Mezamashi Janken, a special video "And to the Infinity Castle", and a collection of PVs and CMs. It also comes with a special booklet and a 16-page accordion booklet in which the production staff and cast write about their thoughts on this work, including their commitment to creating "Infinity Castle Arc Chapter 1".
The prices are ¥11,000 for the limited edition Blu-ray and ¥9,900 for the DVD. The regular edition Blu-ray is ¥4,950 and the DVD is ¥4,400.
"The Infinity Castle Arc : Akaza's Return" was released on July 18, 2025, in 452 theaters, surpassing the scale of "The Mugen Train," which was released in 2020 and became the highest-grossing film in Japanese history with approximately 40.4 billion yen in box office revenue. It was the fastest film in Japan to surpass 10 billion, 20 billion, and 30 billion yen in box office revenue, and in the 266 days until its final screening on April Getsuku(excluding some theaters), it had surpassed 40.2 billion yen in box office revenue and attracted over 27.45 million viewers. It was only the second film in Japanese film history to surpass 40 billion yen in box office revenue.
Overseas, the film was released sequentially in 157 countries and regions excluding Japan starting in August 2025. Worldwide box office revenue, including Japan, exceeded 117.9 billion yen, with over 98.52 million viewers. This marks the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time worldwide, and it ranked 7th in total worldwide box office revenue for films released in 2025.
"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kimetsu no Yaiba" tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, whose family is killed by demons, and who joins the Demon Slaying Corps in order to turn his sister Nezuko, who has been transformed into a demon, back into a human. The original manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 2016 to 2020. The comics have sold over 220 million copies worldwide.
The TV anime "Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc" aired from April to September 2019, and the theatrical film "Mugen Train" was released in October 2020. "Entertainment District Arc" aired from December 2021 to February 2022, "Swordsmith Village Arc" from April to June 2023, and "Hashira Training Arc" from May to June 2024. "Infinity Castle Arc" is a trilogy, and the release date for "Chapter Two" has not yet been announced.
