The first episode of the TBS Sunday drama "GIFT" (Sundays at 9 PM), starring actor Shinichi Tsutsumi, aired on April 12th and featured a popular TBS announcer, generating buzz among viewers.
Set against the backdrop of wheelchair rugby, a parasport, the story follows Wutetsu Fumito, a genius astrophysicist played by Tsutsumi, as he tries to find answers to difficult problems facing the underdog team "Blaze Bulls." Through this process of genuinely clashing hearts and bodies, he learns the importance of friendship and family, leading to a tale of bonds and redemption.
In this episode, Hitoka Kiriyama (Kasumi Arimura), a reporter for the lifestyle magazine "YURUGI" who works for a publishing company, is assigned to cover wheelchair rugby.
The manager who greeted Hitoka at the "Sharkhead" team, the team being interviewed, was announcer Masatoshi Nanba. Nanba's role was to explain the rules of wheelchair rugby and introduce the team's ace, Soichi Taniguchi (played by Kanata Hosoda), and head coach, Kunimi (played by Ken Yasuda).
