The first episode of the drama series "Aku no Hana" (TV Tokyo and others, Thursdays at midnight), starring actor Fuku Suzuki and singer Ano (aka "Ano-chan"), aired late at night on April Getsuku. Towards the end of the episode, there was a scene in which Suzuki's character, Takao Kasuga, wears bloomers, which became a hot topic among viewers.
The drama is based on the manga of the same name by Shuzo Oshimi, which was serialized in "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) from 2009 to 2014, recorded a cumulative circulation of 3.25 million copies, and was nominated for the "Manga Taisho" award. It depicts the "reckless behavior" of adolescent boys and girls.
In the first episode, Takao Kasuga (Suzuki) is a middle school student living in a closed-off town, feeling stifled and clinging to the poetry collection "The Flowers of Evil." His only hope is his classmate, the goddess Nanako Saeki (Manami Igashira). One afternoon after school, he returns to the classroom to retrieve something he forgot and finds Saeki's gym clothes lying on the floor. He instinctively picks them up and sniffs them, but suddenly hears a noise and impulsively steals them before running away.
The next day, while tormented by guilt, he is approached by Sawa Nakamura (Ano-san), who had witnessed the whole thing...and that's how the story unfolds.
Towards the end, Kasuga's clothes were stripped off by Nakamura, leaving him in just his underwear, and he was then forced to wear the stolen gym uniform that belonged to Saeki.
