It has been revealed that a new installment of Hiro Mashima 's popular manga "FAIRY TAIL" will be serialized in a short, concentrated run starting with the combined 36th and 37th issue of the manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), which goes on sale August 5th. This will be the first time "FAIRY TAIL" has been serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" in approximately nine years, since the series ended in July 2017. It will also be the first time new content has been published in the magazine in approximately two years, since the special one-shot in July 2024. The short, concentrated serialization is being held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the manga's serialization.
A special website commemorating the 20th anniversary of the series has been launched, and author Mashima commented, "So, the fact that we can celebrate a manga that ended quite some time ago is all thanks to the unwavering support of our readers. We are preparing lots of new merchandise and events from this year to next year, so please look forward to them. Let's all celebrate the 20th anniversary together! I'm fired up!"
It was also announced that Majima will be holding autograph signing events in five cities: Hokkaido, Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, and Fukuoka. Further details will be announced at a later date.
"FAIRY TAIL" is a manga series that ran in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" from 2006 to 2017. It depicts the growth of the members of the Fairy Tail mage guild, including Natsu Dragneel, a Dragon Slayer who can control fire, and the heroine Lucy Lucy Heartfilia, as they solve various requests. The first TV anime series aired from 2009 to 2013, the second series from 2014 to 2016, and the final season from 2018 to 2019. A sequel, "FAIRY TAIL 100 YEARS QUEST," is currently being serialized on the web manga service "Magapoke" (same publisher).
