◇The following contains spoilers.
"Akinaiseiden Kin to Gin" is a series set in the mid-Edo period that vividly and cheerfully depicts the lives of ordinary people who succeed in business through hard work and ingenuity, interwoven with a variety of customs and traditions. Season 1 aired in 2023, and Season 2 aired in 2025.
Season 3 also centers on Sachi, the seventh-generation owner of Gosuzuya, a kimono and fabric shop that opened in Edo's Asakusa Tawaramachi. One windy day, Sachi (played by Koshiba), her younger sister Yui (played by Nagasawa Itsuki), and her shop assistant Kensuke (played by Sakuma Yu) are on their way to the home of dyer Rikizo (played by Ikeda Tsutomu) to create a pattern for a new kimono when an incident occurs, which drastically changes the fate of Sachi and Gosuzuya. Sachi's struggle to protect Gosuzuya is finally reaching its climax. Meanwhile, Sachi will arrive at an irreplaceable realization.
In the second episode, Yui's opening of the Nihonbashi Gofuku Masu Goya coincides with the launch of Gosuzuya's zodiac patterned kimono fabric. As Sachi had hoped, the zodiac patterned kimono fabric also captured the hearts of male customers. One day, a samurai named Yano (played by Toshiya Toyama) visits the store and buys 100 bolts of white crepe fabric, causing Gosuzuya to be thrilled with a huge sale. However, at a gathering of fellow kimono merchants, it is revealed that Yano is a retainer of the Kaga Maeda family and a customer of Enshuya, another kimono merchant.
Stealing customers is strictly forbidden. Gosuzuya is ostracized, and his path to becoming a kimono merchant in Edo is cut off...and so the story unfolds.
