Karina Nijisaki, a new talent who officially started her entertainment career last year, will be taking over as the new MC of the NHK E-TV program "Gyogyotto Sakana★Star" (Fridays at 7:25 PM, except for the last week of Monday), and will appear in the program starting with the April 3rd broadcast. She will be taking over from Kanon, who left the program at the end of March, and will be Sakana-kun's partner.
Nijisaki was born on January 17, 2008, making her 18 years old. She made her debut on the cover of the weekly magazine "Weekly Playboy" (Shueisha), released on April 21 of last year, and the magazine also solicited suggestions for her stage name, which generated a lot of buzz. Along with this, she also released a digital photobook titled "Please be my godparent." Her stage name was decided as "Nijisaki Karina," and she joined Horipro on June 1 of the same year, officially starting her entertainment career.
This will be Nijisaki's first television appearance, as she only graduated from high school in March of this year. Nijisaki, who loves fish and enjoys fishing as a hobby, and even prepares and eats the fish she catches herself, will be nicknamed "Rainbow Karina" on the show, a play on Nijisaki's name and the rainbow trout. "When it was decided that I would be appearing on the show, I jumped for joy at the thought of meeting Sakana-kun, whom I've always watched on TV, and at the joy of encountering all sorts of fish!" she revealed.
She added, "Sakana-kun is a very loving person who cares deeply for both fish and people, and I feel soothed by his adorable actions when I'm with him." She continued, "All the aquariums are so much fun, and during the tasting sessions, I discovered that fish I'd never heard of were so delicious! It was a continuous stream of new discoveries. I want to share this surprise and excitement with everyone!"
