"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle bizarre requests and worries submitted by viewers. On April 3rd, the ace detective investigated the question, "What can I do about my husband's pet softshell turtle?" Special Director Shingo Murakami, Assistant Director Kemuri Matsui, and Secretary Saori Masuda appeared on the show.
The request came from a 37-year-old woman in Shiga Prefecture. Last year, her husband suddenly brought home two softshell turtles that he had been keeping at a nearby izakaya (Japanese pub) without any permission. They had just moved and she still wanted to decorate the interior nicely, but now there was a fish tank in the living room with two softshell turtles inside.
My husband has given it a name and bathes it every day and takes it for walks. To be honest, cute interior decoration is the last thing on our minds. I reluctantly agreed to let the softshell turtle live with us on the condition that it would only be until the end of last year, but it's still here even after the new year.
