Aruno Nakanishi of the idol group Nogizaka46 attended a press conference in Tokyo on April 2nd for the drama series "Aku no Hana" (TV Tokyo, Thursdays at midnight), which will start airing on April Getsuku. She revealed that she dyed her hair for the first time since joining the group in preparation for her role.
The drama is a live-action adaptation of Shuzo Oshimi's manga of the same name, which was serialized in "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha) from 2009 to 2014, starring actor Fuku Suzuki and singer/talent Ano-chan. It is a dramatic coming-of-age story depicting the "reckless behavior" of adolescent boys and girls. 12 episodes in total.
Nakanishi will appear in the second half of the series, in the high school arc, and will play Tokiwa Aya, a key character. Regarding playing Aya, she explained, "Since joining Nogizaka46, I had decided not to dye my hair, but I dyed it for this shoot. I played a mischievous high school student with slightly lighter brown hair." Suzuki praised her, saying, "It suited you so well! The color is completely different from how it is now."
Regarding the original work, Nakanishi commented, "I knew about it before I was cast in the role, but after reading it all the way through this time, I think it would have been dangerous if I had encountered it during my adolescence (laughs)." "I'm the type of person who is easily influenced, so my life might have been even more chaotic (laughs). This is the first time I've encountered a work that grabs onto such messy emotions that I don't want to show to others, and it was truly shocking."
