NHK's history program "History Detective" (General Channel) will air an episode titled "Five National Treasure Castles" on April 1st at 10 PM. This episode will explore the secrets of three castles—Inuyama Castle, Matsumoto Castle, and Matsue Castle—using the latest scientific research.
These castles are popular with tourists from both Japan and abroad. Their main attraction is undoubtedly the towering "castle tower." However, only 12 castles still have their original castle towers, and of those, only 5 are designated as "National Treasures."
Currently, investigations are underway at these castle keeps, and new discoveries are being made one after another.
