It has been revealed that singer Akina Nakamori has written a new ending theme song for TV Tokyo's economic news program "World Business Satellite (WBS)" (Monday-Thursday 10pm, Friday 11pm). The song is titled "Casablanca" and will begin airing on the program from March 30th.
Nakamori commented, "People are imperfect, and sometimes we hurt each other. But even so, we never give up on wishing for someone's happiness and praying to find light in the darkness. I believe that the heart that tries to believe in the future is the true strength that humans possess. 'Casablanca' is a hymn to the very existence of human beings living in this era. I hope that the prayers we light at the end of the day will turn into compassion and connect to a gentle world that reaches even the farthest skies."
WBS Caster Hitomi Tanaka sent a message saying, "Akina Nakamori is a timeless superstar whose many hit songs can be hummed even by people of my generation, born in 1996. Listening to her sing 'Casablanca,' I was reminded of the news and the obvious fact that even in a moment that seems insignificant to me, there are people in all sorts of circumstances on the same planet. I wonder how many people today are conscious of this obvious fact as they live their lives. I want to start by carefully considering each news item myself so that the message can reach beyond just the initial impression. I hope you will continue to support WBS this spring, which will conclude with Casablanca."
A photo of Nakamori and announcer Tanaka together was also released. Yoon Ho-ryeon, chief producer at TV Tokyo, explained, "The other day, we had the opportunity to greet Akina, who was in the middle of creating a song, together with Caster Hitomi Tanaka. The photo of the two of them was taken at that very time."
"What touched us was Akina's kind and generous spirit. She took care of me and Tanaka, who were nervous, by bringing us coffee herself, and when we parted ways, she smiled and saw us off until the elevator doors closed. 'Casablanca' is a masterpiece filled with Akina's deep love. Lately there has been nothing but heartbreaking news, but we hope that 'WBS' that we deliver, and 'Casablanca' that plays at the end of the program, will be of some help to everyone as they try to move forward for the future," she said.
