The 38th and final episode of the second season of the TV anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End End," based on the manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan), aired on March 27th on Nippon Television's anime block "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT (FuraAni)," and as a surprise, singer-songwriter milet's song "Trace" was played as a special ending theme.
"Trace" is a song included on milet's CD "The Story of Us," and milet commented, "From my heart to my fingertips, I want to touch you, protect you, and be by your side. Just having someone you feel that way about might be happiness in itself. Even if that person isn't here, they will always live on in my heart, as it taught me. I wrote this song with love for ' Frieren: Beyond Journey's End', which made me realize what's important. Thank you for letting me accompany you on this wonderful journey. With heartfelt gratitude, I will continue to watch over your future."
"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is a manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, which began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" in April 2020. Frieren, the mage of the hero's party who defeated the Demon King, is an elf and therefore long-lived, but after experiencing the death of her companions, she embarks on a journey "to understand humanity." It was selected for the Manga Taisho Award 2021, the New Artist Award at the 25th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize, the 69th (2023) Shogakukan Manga Award, and the Shonen category at the 48th Kodansha Manga Award. The cumulative circulation of the comic books exceeds 35 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime aired on Nippon Television's anime block "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" from September 2023 to March 2024. The second season began airing in the same block in January. The third season, "The Golden Land Arc," is in production and will air on the Nippon Television network starting in October 2027.
