The second part of the NHK special drama "Unrequited Love," starring actress Mana Ashida, will air on NHK General on March 27th at 10 PM. The drama is the ultimate unrequited love story, depicting the joy and happiness of unrequited love, with Amane Okayama playing the role of the object of Ashida's unrequited love.
The drama is an original work by screenwriter Yoshikazu Okada, known for his work on the network's Asadora dramas "Churasan" and "Hiyokko." Ashida plays Yui Sugawara, who lives with her mother in Morioka City, loves tofu, and ends up working at the tofu shop owned by the family of her childhood friend, Kenken (played by Okayama). Okayama plays Kenji Sugawara, nicknamed "Kenken," who has been good at drawing since he was a child and has won many awards. After graduating from university, he worked at a design company in Tokyo, but one day he quits the design company and returns to his family's tofu shop in Morioka.
Other cast members appearing in the drama include Rena Takeda, Toshihiro Yashiba, Michiko Haneda, and Kayoko Shiraishi.
In the first part, Yui (Ashida) and Kenken (Okayama) are childhood friends who live next door to each other in a shopping district in Morioka. They grew up so close that they could talk to each other just by sticking their heads out the windows. Kenken, who is good at drawing and works at a design company in Tokyo, is Yui's crush and she has had a crush on him for a long time. One day, Kenken comes back to Morioka for a relative's funeral. Moreover, Kenken says that he has quit his job in Tokyo and will be working at his family's tofu shop. Yui is overjoyed, but...
In the second part, Yui begins working with Kenken at his family's tofu shop. She is overjoyed with her newlywed-like daily life, but Kenken's former colleague, Suzuka (Takeda), suddenly visits from Tokyo. Yui becomes curious about the relationship between Kenken and Suzuka. Then, one day, trouble arises at the tofu shop, putting its survival in jeopardy. The owner, Chizuko (Shiraishi), asks Yui to decide whether or not to keep the shop open. What will Yui decide...?
