Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike made an appearance at the "42nd Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection (TGC) 2026 SPRING/SUMMER" fashion event, held at the National Yoyogi Gymnasium No. 1 (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) on March 14th. Her surprise appearance, without prior announcement, caused a huge roar of surprise from the audience.
This was her first appearance at TGC in about nine years, since 2017. She appeared in a dazzling outfit featuring gold-toned items, and as she looked around the venue, she smiled and said, "It's so powerful! I'm overwhelmed."
She appeared at the event, which brought together young people who will lead the next generation, as a leading figure in "women's empowerment." She advocated for "Women in Action," and powerfully called out, "The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will support your aspirations!"
TGC is a fashion event held twice a year since 2005, with the theme of "Bringing Japanese girls' culture to the world." Many models, actors, and idols appear at the event, and this time Elaiza Ikeda and Sae Okazaki will be among those appearing.
