TV Tokyo held a press conference on March 12th at its headquarters (Minato-ku, Tokyo) to announce its program schedule for the April 2026 season. Seeing the changing environment as an "opportunity," the company will strive to "create content that is needed and resonates with viewers."
In the variety show scene, Kazlaser will be hosting "The No. 1 You Don't Know About - The Chosen Top" (Thursdays at 7:54 PM). This documentary variety show, which will start on April 16th, will search for the true number one, as recommended by people working in the same industry who say, "This person (or thing/place) is in a class of its own."
Additionally, "Global Salary Statements - How Do They Compare to Japan?" (Sundays at 7:50 PM, *first episode at 6:30 PM), which directly asks people around the world about their salaries, will start on April 26th.
A new economic program, "Unparalleled ~From Japan to the World~" (Wednesdays at 11:06 PM), hosted by Masayasu Wakabayashi of the comedy duo "Audrey," will begin airing. The economic talk show "Cambria Palace" (TV Tokyo, Thursdays at 11:06 PM) will be significantly revamped to mark its 20th anniversary, welcoming author Hitomi Kanehara and music creator Hyadain as new hosts.
The dramas starting this season include "Detective, Back to Square One" starring Gaku Hamada (Fridays at 9 PM), the popular series "Kodoku no Gourmet Season 11" starring Yutaka Matsushige (Fridays at 12:12 AM), and "The Flowers of Evil" starring Fuku Fuku Suzuki and Ano (Thursdays at 12 AM).
In the anime world, the TV anime "Killuao" (Saturdays at 11pm), based on the latest work by Tadatoshi Fujimaki, known for the popular manga "Kuroko's Basketball," will start on April 11th, the short anime special program "Animori!" (Sundays at 7am) will start on April 12th, and the latest installment of the "Pretty Series," "Onegai I-Pri" (Sundays at 9:30am), will start on April 5th.
The programming changes were 14.3% for the golden time slot (7pm to 10pm), 11.2% for the prime time slot (7pm to 11pm), and 10.2% for the all-day slot (6am to midnight).
