On March 12, WOWOW announced that it will exclusively broadcast live all matches of the UEFA Women's Champions League, which determines the top European women's soccer club, from the quarterfinals to the final this season, as well as broadcasting and streaming notable matches exclusively live through the 2029-30 season. This season marks the first time that WOWOW will broadcast and stream the UEFA Women's Champions League.
This season, the series will cover the knockout phase, from the quarterfinals on March 25 (Japan time) through to the final on May 24. The semifinals and final will be broadcast live. From the 2026-27 season to the 2029-30 season, the series plans to broadcast and stream the entire season, from the league phase to the final.
This season, the focus will be on the performance of the Japanese women's national team. Many Japanese players are on the world's top teams, and in the quarterfinals, a Japanese showdown will take place between Bayern's Momoko Tanigawa and Manchester United's Hinata Miyazawa. One of the teams with Japanese players will advance to the semifinals in April.
WOWOW will have former Japan women's national soccer team members Yukari Chika, Aya Samejima, and Mana Iwabuchi as commentators, and will broadcast the quarterfinals live with commentary. All semifinals and finals matches will be broadcast live with commentary.
Additionally, on March 12, WOWOW announced that it will exclusively broadcast and stream live the UEFA Champions League (CL), which determines the European football champion, for five seasons, starting with the 2025-26 season and running through the 2030-31 season.
In addition to the Champions League, WOWOW also exclusively broadcasts and streams live the most anticipated matches from the UEFA Europa League (EL) and the UEFA Conference League (ECL).
