The full-length 3D live performance video of Kaguya, a character from "Super Kaguyahime!", the original anime directed by Seigo Yamashita, who has worked on the opening videos for popular anime such as the first season of " Chainsaw Man " and "Chainsaw Man," was released on YouTube on the VR platform "VRChat." The video features Kaguya singing "I Love Myself," a song by the creative unit HoneyWorks, and includes a special surprise performance. Both the music video and lyric video for the song have been viewed over 1 million times, and this marks the first time the entire performance will be performed live.
Kaguya's 3D live performance took place inside Virtual Sanrio Puroland, a permanent VR theme park operated by Sanrio. Approximately 27,000 people attended the first performance at noon on February 15th, setting a new record for the highest number of simultaneous connections ever recorded for an event at Virtual Sanrio Puroland. During the same time slot, the total number of simultaneous connections on VRChat reached 156,716, breaking the previous record by approximately 8,000. After a huge success, the final performance was held on March 8th, but in response to requests for a version that could be viewed even without a VR environment and for viewers to watch it over and over again, the performance was made available on YouTube.
"Super Kaguyahime!" began streaming on January 22nd as a "Netflix movie," and following its success, began screening in theaters on February 20th. Despite being released in 19 theaters, it grossed approximately 291.22 million yen in four days and attracted approximately 148,000 viewers, ranking fifth in the audience numbers ranking (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha). Initially, it was planned to be screened for only one week, but the screening period was extended and eight theaters were added, ranking it eighth in the second week and tenth in the third week, showing no signs of slowing down. From March 13th, the number of theaters screening the film will be expanded by more than 100.
The crowdfunding project "Tsukuyomi Thanksgiving," which aims to recreate the virtual world "Tsukuyomi" from the series within "VRChat," has also been garnering attention, reaching 100% of its goal in just one hour. It has surpassed 1,000% in just over two weeks, and it has been decided that Sakyo Saiha and Tsukimi Yachiyo will be made into 3D characters, as well as the costumes in the music video for the song "ray Super Kaguyahime! Version."
The work is a "music anime" inspired by the classic "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." Aya Sakayori, a 17-year-old high school girl who leads an incredibly busy life juggling part-time work and studies, meets Kaguya, who appears from inside a gaming telephone pole that shines in seven colors. Studio Colorido, known for "Penguin Highway," teamed up with Studio Chromat, led by director Yamashita, to produce the anime. Music was provided by a stellar lineup of Vocaloid producers, including ryo from "supercell," kz from "livetune," 40mP, "HoneyWorks," Aqu3ra, and yuigot.
