The Abema variety show "I Sold All My Assets" (Thursdays at 11pm), hosted by talent Ruriko Kojima, was broadcast on March 5th. The second half of the show followed the host, Kojima, as she opened a pop-up tea specialty store in Akasaka, Tokyo. Behind the scenes footage from the day before and the day of the opening was revealed.
Kojima said, "At first, I thought about opening a restaurant in collaboration with someone, but I was advised that I would learn more if I was prepared to do everything myself," explaining that he chose to start the business from scratch. "I did everything, from building the reservation site," he said, "I calculated the cost in Excel and had a rough idea of the gross profit."
The person who supports her in this endeavor is her female manager. She says that she has known her manager for over 20 years, dating back to elementary school. She recalls that about two months after her husband passed away, she called her out to a promenade near her parents' house and told her, "I'm in a really tough situation right now, but I'm determined to give it my all in both entertainment and business, so I want you to come with me."
She immediately agreed, quit her job at the time, and joined Kojima. Kojima said, "We're also working together in the tea business. It's like we're partners," and talked about how the two of them are now working together.
After the pop-up store finished operating, Kojima spoke up, exuding a sense of accomplishment: "What I want to devote my life to has now taken shape, and customers are pleased."
She then stated her determination, saying, "Because tea has helped me so much, if I can increase the number of people who feel the same way and make them happy, the business will grow as a result. I'll just believe in it and give it a try."
The program also featured a segment in which Yuki Poyo, a talent who is aiming to open a Filipino restaurant like her mother, visited Haruna Ai, who has been running a restaurant for many years, to receive advice.
