Ren Nagase of the popular group King & Prince is currently appearing in the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Reboot" (Sundays at 9pm) starring Ryohei Suzuki. He says that he has never played such a dark role before, and although the character does not have many lines, he has made a strong presence in the series so far.
Nagase, as a member of King & Prince, appeared on the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen at the end of last year for the sixth time in three years, and from the beginning of the new year they will be holding dome concerts in Fukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo, and Aichi as part of the King & Prince DOME TOUR 2026 STARRING. He also serves as the MC for TV Tokyo's music talk variety show Music Capsule: Life's Favorite Songs, and is active on radio programs.
As an actor, he also made waves for his role as the protagonist's childhood friend in the NHK morning drama "Okaeri Mone" (first half of 2021). He has since played a wide range of roles, including a detective in the Sunday Theatre drama "Last Man: The Blind Investigator" (2023), a young man in love with a married woman more than 20 years his senior in the drama "Tokyo Tower" (2024), and a free-spirited heir in the drama "Onzoshi ni Koi wa Muzusugiru for a Heir" (2025).
In "Reboot," Fuyuhashi plays a character who, on the surface, works for an NPO that supports children. Behind the scenes, he is a direct subordinate of Goroku (played by Yukiya Kitamura) and is responsible for the execution of Goroku's work. He also serves as a liaison with Gido (played by Suzuki), and monitors him to ensure he is not disobeying Goroku's orders.
In the sixth episode, which aired on March 1st, Gido (Suzuki), who was captured by Goroku, claims that Ichika (Toda Erika) was the one who stole 10 billion yen worth of goods. However, after a private discussion with Ichika, Gido contradicts his claim, saying, "Of course I did it," and is shot by Fuyuhashi. Fuyuhashi then delivers the "finishing shot" to Gido with a cold expression and without hesitation, sparking discussion on social media with comments such as, "Even the dangerous, dark Fuyuhashi is captivating," "Dark Fuyuhashi is really cool," and "Renren's acting as a new actor is amazing."
The preview for episode 7 (to be aired on March 8th) includes a caption that reads, "What answer will Fuyuhashi and Hayase come up with?", along with a scene of Fuyuhashi grabbing Hayase (Suzuki) by the collar and screaming.
Fans are saying things like, "Is the next episode about Fuyuhashi?" and "I can't wait," and attention is also focused on Nagase's acting, which shows further "evolution" in this dark role, and the story of Fuyuhashi.
