It has been announced that the TV anime "Reiwa no Dara-san," based on the occult manga by Tomochika Haruomi, currently serialized on the manga site "Kadocomi" (KADOKAWA) and elsewhere, will begin airing in July. The main cast has also been announced, with Tamura Mutsumi playing the protagonist Dara-san, Tsuda Minami playing Mitokitani Hinata, and Terasawa Momoka Terasawa playing Mitokitani Kaoru. Masaki Terasoma will be in charge of narration. The first official trailer has been released on YouTube, showcasing the opening theme song "Dara Dara Dancing," sung by the main characters.
It was also announced that gravure idol Kazebuki Kei will be the official cosplayer for the series, and will be cosplaying as Dara. Kazebuki will appear alongside the main cast at a stage event at the KADOKAWA booth at AnimeJapan 2026, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto Ward, Tokyo) on March 28th and 29th.
Tamura, who plays Dara-san, commented, "When I read Dara-san, I thought it was such a well-balanced story. There were some serious developments that made me want to know what would happen next, and Dara-san had a truly tragic past, which made it difficult to read, but I was very happy when she was saved by her siblings in the modern-day part. The modern-day part is a very interesting story with unusual characters that will make you chuckle. I would be happy if many people would see this work! Please discover the great things about Dara-san!! Thank you!"
Tsuda, who plays Mitokitani Hinata, said, "Reiwa's Slacker is a Reiwa-era horror film full of slapstick gags. Hinata is a character who doesn't give off a sense of horror, so I'd be happy if people who don't like scary things could watch it too! (I can't go to haunted houses either.) Reiwa is Slacker!!"
Terazawa, who plays Mitokitani Kaoru, said, "Kaoru is a character who is the complete opposite of what I expected in every way, so I was pleasantly surprised! (laughs) The biggest appeal of this work is the huge gap between the comedy parts and the serious parts. The characters that appear are all extremely unique! Please look forward to it!"
Terasoma, who will be doing the narration, commented, "I will be narrating the past and present. This work has a very interesting and fascinating content, so I would like to tell it in a way that draws everyone into the story without any sense of incongruity. Please look forward to it."
Kazebuki said, "When I heard about the role and read the original work, I was completely drawn into the world of Dara-san, who attacks me alternately with scary and funny elements. I hope you enjoy the hilarious world of Dara-san!"
The story is a new-age occult manga about two siblings who enter a place that has long been off-limits, where they encounter a supernatural being, but are not at all fazed, and instead become attached to the being, calling it "Dara-san."
The anime will be directed by Suzuki Masato, who has worked on such films as "Longing for a Magical Girl," and produced by Asahi Productions.
