The visual for the "Lucy Kidnapping Incident" arc of the TV anime "The Darwin Incident," based on the manga by Shun Umezawa, which was also the winner of the Grand Prize at the "Manga Taisho 2022" awards, has been released. The "Lucy Kidnapping Incident" arc will begin with the ninth episode, which will air on March 3rd, and will reveal the terrorist's (Rivera) true intentions and the secret of Charlie's birth. The visual features Lucy and Charlie, as well as Rivera, Philip, Lipman, and Linares.
"The Darwin Incident" has been serialized in "Afternoon" (Kodansha) since 2020. Charlie, a "humanzee" born between a human and a chimpanzee, faces human problems such as terrorism, online outrage, and discrimination. The series has sold over 2.2 million copies in total.
The anime is directed by Tsuda Naokatsu and produced by Belnox Films. Atsumi Tanezaki plays Charlie, a "humanzee" born from a human and a chimpanzee, Mitsuho Kanbe plays Lucy Eldred, who Charlie meets when he enrolls at the school, and Akio Otsuka plays Rivera Feyerabend. It is currently airing on TV Tokyo.
