The sixth episode of the popular TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Reboot" (Sundays at 9:00 PM), starring Ryohei Suzuki, aired on March 1st. The scene where Hayase (played by Suzuki) eats pudding in front of Gido's wife, Mayu (played by Meisa Kuroki), brought tears to the eyes of viewers.
◇The following contains spoilers
Shot by Fuyuhashi (Nagase Ren), Gido (Suzuki) is on the verge of death, and musters his last bit of strength, entrusting Hayase with the task at hand, saying, "Tell Mayu to get a divorce quickly." Hayase promises, "It'll be fine. I'll definitely protect Mayu," but Gido is shot and dies.
Hayase, whose life was saved in place of Gido, visited Mayu, who works at Hayase Pastry Shop. He told Mayu that Gido had embezzled money from an underground organization and was cornered, and had fled to a country in Southeast Asia. He lied and said, "It seems he has a woman who ran away with him," and handed her divorce papers.
Mayu continues to stare at Hayase, who tells her, "(Gido) said he doesn't want to have anything to do with you in the future." She recommends Hayase a new product, "Hayase Pudding," saying, "Gido doesn't like sweet things, so I feel like if he sees you eating this, he'll forget about it."
Hayase scooped up the pudding with a spoon and took a bite, and couldn't hold back the tears.
As Mayu turned to leave, saying, "I'm sure there are many things you can't say, but please let me know when everything is over," Hayase could only say, "The necklace! I returned it to Gido-san. Gido-san cared about you. He cared about you more than anyone else."
On social media, people were excited, saying things like, "Suzuki Ryohei's acting in the scene where they eat pudding in the park was so amazing it was heartbreaking," "I cried so much at the end when Hayase rebooted Gido and cried while eating pudding," "I cried along with him in the scene where they were eating pudding. He tried to keep quiet but I understand why you want to tell someone how much they cared about him," "I cried during the Hayase pudding scene. I wonder if Mayu also realized something..." and "The scene where Suzuki Ryohei eats pudding really touched my heart. All kinds of emotions welled up inside me and it was a wonderful performance that brought tears to my eyes."
