The key visual for NHK's special drama "Guilty, the AI Announced," starring actress Kyoko Yoshine, has recently been released. The drama is a legal mystery set in the near future that questions the role of humans who use AI, and how AI is now permeating society at an astonishing speed. The drama will be broadcast on NHK BS Premium 4K at 7:30 PM on March 28th and on NHK BS at 9 PM on May 16th.
The drama is based on the novel of the same name by Shichiri Nakayama, and Yoshine plays Judge Madoka Takatoji, who is tasked with judging a murder suspect in a trial AI judge.
It has been announced that Kunimura Jun will play Hiba Katsuhiro, a veteran judge who is nearing retirement, has a strict personality, and has lived a long and proud career as a judge, Asami Usuda, a judge who serves alongside Madoka and Hiba in a murder trial, and Jun Fubuki, Madoka's grandmother. She was one of the pioneering female judges and was involved in many trials, and was known as a renowned judge.
The original author, Nakayama, commented, "I'm a born contrarian, so I always write with the thought, 'If it can be made into a movie, then go ahead and do it.' Incidentally, I was talking to a producer the other day, and he said that 'novels that are aiming to be made into a movie reek of that sort of thing,' so he is instead drawn to novels that refuse to be made into a movie. This work is also a collaboration between a contrarian and a producer full of a spirit of adventure."
