It has been announced that the TV anime "I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class(KuraNika)," based on the light novel by Sneaker Bunko (KADOKAWA), will begin airing on TOKYO MX and other stations from April 7th. The second key visual, which captures the "secret time just the two of us" between the shady boy Maehara Maki and the second heroine Asanagi Umi, as well as the second promotional video, which depicts the "teasing and pitiful" relationship between Itsuki and Umi and also features the most beautiful girl in the class, Yu, have been released.
It was also announced that singer-songwriter Koresawa will be performing the ending theme "Always be number one," and that the cast will include Kaida Yuko as Maki's mother, Masaki, Itou Shizuka as Umi's mother, Sora, and Tsuda Minami as homeroom teacher Yagisawa Miki.
The popular light novel, written by Takata and illustrated by Hinata Azuri, won the grand prize in the paperback category of the Next Light Novel 2023. Maehara Maki, a loner in class, becomes friends with Asanagi Umi, a girl who is always the center of attention and is rumored by the other boys to be the second cutest in the class. The series has sold over 1.6 million copies.
The anime will be directed by Hideki Tachibana and produced by CONNECT. The voice actors for Maki will be Manaka Iwami.
