It has been announced that a TV anime adaptation of "A Certain Dark Side Girl Symbiosis (Item)," a spin-off of the "A Certain" series, centered around Kazuma Kamachi's popular light novel "A Certain Magical Index," will be broadcast in 2026. Nagasaki Tatsuyuki will serve as director, and Kimoto Shigeki will handle character design. It will be produced by JCSTAFF, which has previously worked on the "A Certain" series of anime. A teaser visual featuring the four "Item" members, Mugino Shizuri, Frenda Seivelun, Takitsubo Rikou, and Kinuhata Saiai, has also been released.
The announcement was made at the concert "A Certain Magical Index: Gensou Ongeki (Film Concert) - Index Section (Daytime Performance)" held at Tachikawa Stage Garden (Tachikawa, Tokyo) on February 22nd. In the video released, Koshimizu Ami, who plays Mugino Shizuri, said, "I never thought the time would come when Mugino would be the main character, so while I feel a bit of pressure, I think this will be a production where people can enjoy the insults and beams that Mugino unleashes." She also said, "Did you see that, Misaka Mikoto! I will approach the dubbing with that feeling!"
The "Toaru" series is popular as a light novel, manga, anime, etc., and boasts a total of over 31 million copies sold. "Toaru Anbu no Shoujo Kyousei" depicts the exploits of an elite unit made up of specialists in various fields, led by Mugino Shizuri, a level 5 psychic.
